The Fuikdag party is a popular annual event that takes place on the Caribbean island of Curaçao, which is part of the Netherlands Antilles. It is a celebration of the local Afro-Caribbean culture and traditions, and it is held on the first Sunday of January, this year on January 8th 2023.

Okay, this is actually not a Klein Curacao Day trip, but Fuikdag is such a popular annual celebration (and held en route to Klein Curacao), so we added it here anyway!

Fuikdag is always celebrated on the first Sunday of the new year, in 2023 this is on Sunday 8 January 2023

#1 Several Boats – All-in Price $349 per person

Together these boats have a 60 person capacity. The all-in day tickets include beer, wine, spirits, water, snacks, BBQ and more. These boat will depart from the Spanish Water around 8:30 AM ensuring a central location at the Fuikdag party.

#2 Sail Boat – All-in Price $385

On this 68 Feet sail boat you will be higher up above the water line and have a better overview. The all-in day tickets include beer, wine, spirits, water, snacks, BBQ and more. This boat will depart from the Spanish Water around 8:30 AM ensuring a central location at the Fuikdag party.

Fuikdag 2023

Experience Curaçao’s most fun party – Fuikdag! Every year, on the first Sunday of the New Year, this incredible event takes place in Fuik Bay. Everyone is invited to participate in the festivities, regardless of their means of transportation! Although boats are the most popular, anything that floats can be used – from an inflatable mattress to an old wooden door! Renting a boot is definitely recommended, as it is the most comfortable and enjoyable way to enjoy Fuikdag, but be sure to reserve in advance, as they fill up quickly on the day. Stop by and enjoy!

Fuikdag History

The celebration of this event began quite naturally. In the 1960s, the members of the Curaçao Yacht Club – owners of yachts and large sailboats – had a tradition of gathering at 6 a.m. on January 1 each year for a large, sumptuous breakfast. This was a friendly circle of friends who had come together to enjoy each other’s company. When the yacht club discontinued this breakfast, Eduardo Badaracco decided to take charge and organize the event himself.

He suggested taking the boat to Fuik Bay and making a fun day of it together. They agreed, although the date was changed to the first Sunday of the new year to make it easier for everyone.The tradition was then changed to the first Sunday of the New Year so they could get together, enjoy a nice day and keep the event going. And it has been a beloved tradition ever since!
